“Plan B” for Peak Oil and the Country

Looks like there’s a “Plan B” for Peak Oil and the Country .

Rural de-population, school closures, collapsing economies, aging farmers, and abandoned land – this is the country (from an economical standpoint). Add to it increasingly expensive and everlessoning cheap energies and we’ve got ourselves unpopulated hinterlands abound. As we all know, there’s lots of revitalization plans for the country floating about; pork barrel road projects, robotic suits and other high-tech autonomous contraptions for farmers, small-town-top-down-pyramid-scheme-like-teetering-on-the-edge-of-sub-prime-woes-rural-investment-packages, et al, but who’s heard of revitalization “Plan B” ?

It’s a plan by a one Professor Yoshinori Ishii, author of (Oil Depletion and National Strategies). He proposes a “Plan B” for the revitalization of Japan and the country; revitalization through not trying too hard to revitalize!! Some ideas include letting Japan’s population shrink, focusing on existing rail rather than road for transportation of foods and peoples, and steering away from industrial agriculture and focusing on local, natural food production.

Blazing Saddles!

Prof. Yoshinori Ishii
